The 2008 Manufacturer’s Cup series recently wrapped up its season at Mark Dismore’s New Castle Motorsports Park in New Castle, Indiana. The DB Motorsports crew was in attendance with the opportunity of a championship in their inaugural season. Caleb Loniewski’s weekend started of very well with a 3rd place qualifying effort. The pre-final saw Loniewski’s luck turn for the worst as contact with another driver dropped him to a 19th place finish. Undeterred by the misfortune, Loniewski pushed hard in the final to bring home a respectable 9th place finish. Sunday’s event started off a bit rocky for the Michigan City, Indiana native with a 12th place qualifying effort. With the starting grid set for the pre-final, Loniewski drove a masterful race to pass 8 karts in 6 laps around the 1 mile course. In the final, Loniewski again drove an outstanding race and after battling neck and neck was able to bring home his 3rd national event victory of the season. DB Motorsports second driver, team co-owner Brian McHattie showed immense gains all throughout the weekend. After qualifying both days in the 24th position, Saturday’s incident prone pre-final saw McHattie get caught up in 2 separate incidents bending the steering shaft and tie-rods and relegating McHattie to a 36th place starting spot for the final. At the drop of the green for Saturday’s final, Mchattie was once again caught up in an incident in turn 1. Battling back through the field, McHattie finished the event in the 26th position. Sunday’s results would not be indicative of McHattie’s true performance. While racing through field from a 21st starting place, McHattie would find himself in 17th position turning laps very close to the leaders pace. An incident with another driver would push McHattie back in the field and he would finish up his day in the 23rd position. Overall it was a great weekend and an outstanding season for the entire DB Motorsports crew bringing home the runner-up position in the season standings. DB Motorsports would like to thank the Dedicated crew members Steve Hennessey and Ryan Miller for their hard work and dedication, Sean Cook of Cook Racing Engines for all of his support and hard work as well as J3 Competition, KG USA, Burris Racing, DB Graphics and Design, Lonici Rental Group and everyone involved in making this season a complete success.

DB Motorsports driver Brian McHattie would compete both days on his Cook Racing Engines Vortex Rok TT powered Kosmic T-11.

Saturdays event saw the track management have the race run in the reverse direction. The weekend started off in excellent fashion qualifying in P2 for the pre-final alongside the cook powered kosmic machine of Matt Machiko. The prefinal was an exciting event with Machiko ousting Mchattie for the win and pole for the events final. In the final, Mchattie got a spectacular start at the drop of the green and was able to hold off Machiko to lead flag to flag for his first victory of the weekend.

Sunday saw the team picking up right where it left off on Saturday. The DB crew made constant changes throughout the day and came away with the sweep of the day by setting fast time in qualifying, winning the prefinal and final flag to flag. Also sweeping the main events for the weekend winning on Saturday and Sunday.

DB Motorsports would once again like to thank Cook Racing Engines and J3 Competition for their technical assistance all season long.

The DB Motorsports crew returned to Mark Dismore’s New Castle Motorsports Park for the facilities annual endurance event, the Mazda RoboPong 200 presented by Bridgestone. This unique karting event is fast becoming one of the premiere karting events in the U.S. Drivers from all disciplines of professional open wheel racing were competing alongside the best kart racers in the nation.

Robbie Pecorari and Caleb Loniewski look over their kart before starting the 200 mile endurance race
102 teams were vying for the 70 starting positions allotted to this years event. DB Motorsports would enter 2 teams in the event. Team 27 consisted of DB Motorsports driver Caleb Loniewski and Indy Pro Series race winner and former ICA National champion Robbie Pecorari. The other DB Motorsports entry, Team 93, consisted of DB Motorsports driver Brian McHattie and ICC veteran Bryan Dudiwka.

Pecorari was able to come up to speed extremely quick from his 4 year abscence to karting. Dudiwka was also able to adapt his driving style from the hard charging ICC style to the more laid back 100cc style of driving. After all the practice and setup changes made by the team, Team 27 would end qualifying in the 5th position while team 93 struggled a bit more and would make the event on time in the 45th position.

The teams would line up for the 3 pace laps behind the Mazda RX-8 pace car and take the green for 200 miles of hard racing. The entire field of 70 karts would make it through the first few laps without a major incident, quite a feat for the shear number of karts on the track. Team 27 showed outstanding pace throughout the event, but spark plug issues would force them to make an extra 2 pit stops, costing them any chance at the win. Team 93 would not fare quite as well as braking issues would put them a number of laps down at the end.

Overall, the DB Motorsports crew had a great time at the event and would manage a 7th place finish with team 27 and a 43rd place finish with team 93. The brightest moment of the event was the announcement of the fastest lap, the DB Motorsports crew would be pleaseantly surprised to hear their name called out as fast lap and recipients of the $250.00 bonus that went along with it.

Once again, DB motorsports would like to thank everyone involved with the team at this event. We would especially like to thank the Dudiwka and Loniewski families for their assistance in the pits all weekend. Also, Cook Racing Engines for providing the teams with the best Vortex Rok TT engines available.

The DB Motorsports crew returned to Mark Dismore’s New Castle Motorsports Park for the facility’s inaugural WKA Manufacturer’s Cup event. A stellar field of 44 karts turned out for the event and some of the nations best drivers were entered. DB Motorsports driver Caleb Loniewski would be doing battle with the likes of current points leader and new TAG National champion Kyle Wiegand as well as multiple race winner Chris Wehrheim.

Loniewski’s Cook Racing Engine powered Kosmic T-11 would qualify a respectable P4 in the order a mere 2/10ths off of pole speed. Come pre-final time, Loniewski made the proper changes to his kart to gain the advantage over the rest of the competition, winning the pre-final by just under a second over national champion and perennial front runner Wiegand. The final would be a hard fought battle, but Loniewski would come out on top over Wiegand once again, also setting fast lap for the event. This win gave the DB Motorsports crew their first WKA national event win.

The crew at DB Motorsports would like to congratulate Caleb on an outstanding drive and victory. Loniewski and DB Motorsports were the only other team to score a victory in WKA Manufacturer’s Cup TAG competition this season. We would like to thank Cook Racing Engines, the official engine builder of DB Motorsports, as well as J3 Competition, the nations importer of the Kosmic line of karts.

The prestigious Rock Island Grand Prix took place this past weekend with great racing and great weather alike. The event was highlighted by TaG Senior, and TaG Masters.

Caleb Loniewski leading the TaG Sr. class to the green flag
Saturday’s events concluded with late afternoon qualifying where both the Kosmic T11 Racing Kart and Vortex RoK TT engine were highlighted with great results.

The exceptional weekend started off with the TaG Senior category took to the track for qualifying. DB Motorsports driver Caleb Loniewski and J3 Competition driver Johnny Johnson waited until the last session to make their respective marks on the ‘ROCK’. Loniewski laid down a blistering lap to capture the pole position with Johnny Johnson following suit to capture the remaining front row spot. Once the checkered flag fell at the end of the session RiverLake Racing driver Chris Enderline had placed his RoK TT package in the third position. Sunday’s race witnessed Loniewski taking the checkered as he lead the race flag to flag in a dominating fashion. Johnson would take home a respectable fourth place finish, thus proving the competitiveness of the Kosmic T11 and Vortex RoK TT.

The much anticipated TaG Master event was once again witness to the preparation of DB Motorsports as driver Brian McHattie would salvage a fourth place qualifying position on his Kosmic T11/Vortex RoK TT after cutting the session short due to wreck . Kartland Sales driver Scott Evans would come out of his qualifying group with a solid third place effort aboard his RoK TT. The final was action packed with several lap Karts eventually ending the race four laps short. The result was DB Motorsports capturing its second win of the weekend with driver Brian McHattie while street racing veteran Scott Evans brought his RoK TT across the finish line with a solid second place finish

The DB Motorsports crew headed to Mark Dismore’s New Castle Motorsports Park for the Great Lakes Sprint Series Event. Using this as a tune-up event for the upcoming Manufacturer’s cup event, team driver Caleb Loniewski was in full learning mode. With this being his second event with the team and second event in the Kosmic T-11 chassis, the team was out to gain as much data as possible. Throughout the day, Loniewski gained confidence as well as speed come time for qualifying. Turning in the third fast lap would see Loniewski start from inside the second row. After 6 hard faught laps, Loniewski would end up finishing in the second position behind New Castle regular Billy Lewis. Loniewski might have ended up second in the results, but set fast lap of the race. Never going out on the track with the same setup twice, Loniewski would end the day in 5th place after all was said and done. The results of this day don’t show the knowledge and outstanding pace that was gained.

Sunday would prove to be an even better experience for the entire team. Loniewski would take his Cook Racing Engines powered Kosmic T-11 to the pole as well as a new TAG track record. His pole setting time was nearly a second clear of the rest of the field. After an horrendous start, Loniewski would come back in great fashion finishing third while setting fast lap of the race. The satge was set for the final, Loniewski would start in second place. After dropping back to 4th on the start, Caleb would put on a beautiful drive to get back to second position again setting fast lap of the race. On the final lap, the leader left the door open entering a hard breaking turn 12, but Loniewski was a bit too far off to make the pass. Settling for a second place result in the standings, the entire team once again learned an invaluable amount for the next weeks WKA Manufacturers Cup event.
