September 3, 2007 - Rock Island Grand Prix Report
The prestigious Rock Island Grand Prix took place this past weekend with great racing and great weather alike. The event was highlighted by TaG
Senior, and TaG Masters.
Saturday’s events concluded with late afternoon qualifying where both the Kosmic T11 Racing Kart and Vortex RoK
TT engine were highlighted with great results.
The exceptional weekend started off with the TaG Senior category took to the track for
qualifying. DB Motorsports driver Caleb Loniewski and J3 Competition driver Johnny Johnson waited until the last session to make their respective
marks on the ‘ROCK’. Loniewski laid down a blistering lap to capture the pole position with Johnny Johnson following suit to capture the
remaining front row spot. Once the checkered flag fell at the end of the session RiverLake Racing driver Chris Enderline had placed his RoK TT
package in the third position. Sunday’s race witnessed Loniewski taking the checkered as he lead the race flag to flag in a dominating fashion.
Johnson would take home a respectable fourth place finish, thus proving the competitiveness of the Kosmic T11 and Vortex RoK TT.
The much
anticipated TaG Master event was once again witness to the preparation of DB Motorsports as driver Brian McHattie would salvage a fourth place
qualifying position on his Kosmic T11/Vortex RoK TT after cutting the session short due to wreck. Kartland Sales driver Scott Evans would come out of
his qualifying group with a solid third place effort aboard his RoK TT. The final was action packed with several lap Karts eventually ending the race
four laps short. The result was DB Motorsports capturing its second win of the weekend with driver Brian McHattie while street racing veteran Scott
Evans brought his RoK TT across the finish line with a solid second place finish.
